The basic unit of biology is the cell, which every organism is composed with multiples cells or is itself is a single cell. Therefore, the understanding of cell structure and function can be benefit to explore the knowledge of animals, plants, fungi and micro-organisms. The cell biology is the converged discipline of cytology, genetics, and biochemistry, and is progressive and dynamic field in recent years. To establish the basic concepts of structure and function of the cell, this course will be focused on the structures of the cell, such as membrane, organelles, cytosol and cytoskeleton, and explore the function under the biochemical and genetic levels.
